Shin Rental Server: security status
Summary
Official (dedicated notice naming the CVEs, dated Oct 21): on Shin Rental Server and Shin Free Server, mitigations were in place by 12:00 on Oct 21 and the fix reached all target servers for PHP 7.2-8.5 by 14:00 on Oct 22. PHP 8.2-8.5 were updated to the fixed release of the same branch; 7.2-8.1 were patched without changing the version. The PHP 5.1-7.1 timings in the earlier notice are not in the current one. Shin VPS customers manage the OS and PHP, so the vendor does not patch it.
Customer action:
Check your PHP version in the panel. PHP 8.1 and older are out of upstream support, so plan a move to a supported PHP. The vendor says it will notify customers if extra steps are needed. Shin VPS customers must update PHP themselves.
